At EccoFreight, we support the SDGs.

Last Sunday, September 25, marked the 7th anniversary of the adoption of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and adhered to the Spanish Global Compact Network, at EccoFreight we are proud to contribute to the following 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

 

01: End of poverty

At EccoFreight we not only promote the care of the environment but also the care of people. We are fully aware of and committed to social action in the most disadvantaged areas, mainly with school-age children, such as, for example, the lunchroom scholarships with which we ensure that children from 3 to 12 years of age can have access to at least one balanced meal a day.

02: Zero Hunger

Through the NGO Olvidados, we contribute in trying to alleviate the situation of underprivileged families who lack the resources to buy and acquire food and other essential products.

Every month, the NGO tries to distribute 40 tons of food through its three distribution centers. More than 2,000 people are guaranteed an equitable distribution on a monthly basis.

03: Health and Wellness

At EccoFreight we guarantee the health and safety of our entire workforce. To achieve this, we have set several objectives on which we express our commitments, complying with all regulations relating to Occupational Risk Prevention as the minimum legal reference.

04: Quality Education

Continuous employee training is something that we at EccoFreight have very much integrated into our policy. Every year, we analyze training needs and prepare a specific training calendar to be developed during the course of the year.

05: Gender equality

In addition to having an Equality Officer, our Equality Plan establishes different actions for all areas of the company to ensure compliance with equal treatment and opportunities.

It should be noted that EccoFreight’s current workforce is made up of 68% women and 32% men. Among them, there are 8 workers with a nationality other than Spanish.

08: Decent work and economic growth

At EccoFreight we consider our suppliers as an essential element in achieving our objectives of growth, quality, excellence and customer satisfaction. At all times, we establish relationships with them based on trust and mutual benefit.

Through our CSR policy we show our unavoidable commitment to generate a positive impact on all our stakeholders, as well as to contribute to the well-being of our immediate environment.

09: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

The quality of service, the minimization of environmental impact and health and safety is everyone’s responsibility. Therefore, every employee of the company is committed to comply with and maintain the Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety Management System based on ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO14065 and ISO45001 standards.

In the 2020-2021 cycle, we developed a continuous improvement program for all the processes that take place within the company.

10: Reduction of inequalities

One of EccoFreight’s basic pillars is respect for all people regardless of gender, race, culture, disability, nationality, age, religion, identity or sexual orientation.

As our human capital is the most important thing, at EccoFreight we support a positive work environment in which both differences and similarities are valued, developing the potential of each person, thus maximizing their contribution to the company’s objectives.

12: Responsible production and consumption

Conscious of responsible consumption, at EccoFreight we try every year to reduce our consumption per person and office as much as possible.

In accordance with the requirements established by the international standard UNE-EN ISO 14001, we have an environmental management system, as well as a manual of good environmental practices with which we demonstrate our daily commitment to the environment.

Finally, in 2021, we implemented work processes in all our offices to reduce paper consumption as much as possible.

13: Climate Action

Through the Environmental Management System, at EccoFreight we control the repercussion of our activities on the environment, pursuing at all times the minimization of their impact on it.

Using the ISO1406-1 standard, we calculate the carbon footprint of our three offices and draw results and conclusions, with which we subsequently draw up reduction and compensation plans. An example of this is our EccoForest project, with which we have already planted more than 3,000 native species in desertified areas of the country.

Every sustainability action brings us closer to the future we want for ourselves and for future generations.
