{"id":7711,"date":"2023-06-21T11:07:26","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T11:07:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ecco-freight.com\/cop27-eu-and-the-road-to-ghg-emissions-reduction\/"},"modified":"2024-04-23T08:42:11","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T08:42:11","slug":"cop27-eu-and-the-road-to-ghg-emissions-reduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ecco-freight.com\/en\/cop27-eu-and-the-road-to-ghg-emissions-reduction\/","title":{"rendered":"COP27: EU and the road to GHG emissions reduction"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"7711\" class=\"elementor elementor-7711 elementor-6405\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-10ac661 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"10ac661\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-daccf2a\" data-id=\"daccf2a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-751b9bbf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"751b9bbf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n<p>On November 18, the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference <strong>(COP27)<\/strong> ended in Egypt without much significant progress.<\/p>\n<p>With more than 200 countries attending this edition, progress has been made on some fundamental points, but others remain at a standstill.  <\/p>\n<p>The main proposals and objectives were as follows:<\/p>\n<p>to achieve <strong>greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions<\/strong> and increase funding for countries most affected by the impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Countries representing more than half of the world&#8217;s GDP established an <strong>action<\/strong> plan to accelerate <strong>decarbonization<\/strong> through progress in key sectors such as energy, transportation and agriculture.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>EU announces ambitious plan to reduce emissions by 57% by 2030<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>On the <strong>COP27<\/strong> stage <strong>,<\/strong> European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans stated that <em>&#8220;progress must be made to keep the 1.5\u00baC objective alive&#8221;<\/em> in order to avoid the worst effects of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>27 countries of the European Union<\/strong> have agreed on a series of policies to increase emissions reductions from 55% to <strong>57%<\/strong> by <strong>2030 <\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>This increased ambition will be achieved through energy savings and greater investment in renewable energy, Timmermans said.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Focus on transportation<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Currently, transportation accounts for 10% of global gas emissions.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, special attention has been paid to the urgency of its rapid <strong>decarbonization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the measures unveiled at this edition was the presentation of the <strong>Accelerating to Zero Net Emissions Coalition (A2Z) <\/strong>already agreed at the previous COP26.<\/p>\n<p>This Coalition brings together countries, regions, institutions and companies working and striving to achieve <strong>carbon neutrality <\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/ecco-freight.com\/en\/\">\n  <strong>EccoFreight<\/strong>\n<\/a><strong> leading the change that transportation needs since 2014.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since our inception in 2014, it has been clear to us that both generating environmental awareness and reducing CO2 was the way forward to ensure the future of our planet.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the combination of sustainability with the most advanced technology, we were able to develop <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/TXvwg9ZKZyE\">Eccologistics360<\/a>: a powerful logistics tool specialized in the calculation and reduction of CO2 emissions in the transport of goods.<\/p>\n<p>With these advances, we are doing our bit to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"On November 18, the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) ended in Egypt without much significant progress.
